Kianga is a small settlement 2km north from Narooma with houses perched high above the ocean commanding panoramic water views. Reef Beach is a favourite with local surfers, and Antons Café, Kianga’s only retail outlet, gives customers a great view of day’s conditions and puts them in the box seat when whales are around.
It’s also a handy stopping off point on the incredible Narooma to Dalmeny cycleway – the newly completed 6km ocean-front shared pathway, NAR1, built by a Dad’s Army of volunteers for the benefit of the community.
Dalmeny is another small town dominated by beautiful beaches and lakes. Located 6km north of Narooma, it has a small shopping centre, including a supermarket, café, newsagency, beauty salon, real estate agency, a boutique takeaway seafood café, a lighting goods shop and a spectacularly located waterfront, Council-owned camping ground. Dalmeny also has a significant light industrial area and two major aged care facilities.
Dalmeny Bowling Club is open for dinner and entertainment and provides excellent facilities for lawn bowls and croquette.
Travelling the Dalmeny/Kianga Scenic Route is a visually beautiful experience, following along the beaches to Narooma – great for surfing, swimming, fishing and whale watching or just relaxing on the designated dog-friendly beaches on the way.
