There are three National Parks close to Narooma.
Gulaga National Park
Gulaga National Park surrounds Gulaga mountain – a dominating landmark with fascinating history and topography which was once named Mount Dromedary by the passing Captain Cook because of its distinctive single camel hump shape. Click here for more information on Gulaga.
Eurobodalla National Park
Eurobodalla National Park extends throughout the shire at various points along the Eurobodalla coastline, including around Mystery Bay and areas north of Narooma.
Montague Island Nature Reserve
Montague Island Nature Reserve lies 9km off Narooma and is a breeding place for over 40,000 sea birds including 3 species of Shearwaters (Mutton Birds), Little Penguins (Australia’s only native penguin – between 8000 -12000 nest at Montague Island), Crested Terns and Silver Gulls. The island is a haul-out site for Australian and New Zealand Fur Seals, and an aggregation point for endangered Grey Nurse Sharks. Click here for more information on Montague Island.
